How Does the JOOOL Hybrid System Work?
System overview
Modular Architecture
The JOOOL Hybrid System is a turnkey energy and propulsion solution designed for sailing yachts and catamarans ranging from 35 to 65 feet. The system’s strength is its unified, modular architecture, built around four interconnected components. The system is scalable in terms of power output, making it adaptable to a wide range of vessels and navigation profiles.
Core components
The four building blocks of the system
The hybrid system is built around four core elements, all working together to manage energy flow and propulsion. These components are connected to a genset, which provides additional energy when needed. It operates at its nominal point, reducing fuel consumption and wear compared to traditional thermal engines.
Battery Pack
The battery pack ensures energy storage for all onboard and propulsion needs.
Designed for a wide range of sailboats
While the architecture remains the same across all installations, the system is available in different power versions—25 kW, 35 kW, or 50 kW—depending on the vessel’s size and onboard equipment. This flexibility allows for consistent integration, whether retrofitting an existing boat or equipping a new build. All versions use the same components, ensuring simplified integration and maintenance across the range.
Simplified and automated energy flow
The hybrid system continuously manages and optimizes onboard energy usage. Whether at sea or at anchor, users benefit from a reliable and stable energy supply with minimal interaction required.
Silent propulsion and maneuvering comfort
The electric propulsion system offers quiet, vibration-free movement with immediate torque response. It simplifies maneuvers and provides a more comfortable sailing experience overall.
Smart integration of renewable sources
The system is designed to take advantage of renewable energy sources like solar, hydro-regeneration, or wind when available. These inputs help recharge the battery pack and reduce the need for marina charging, increasing autonomy during long journeys.
Everyday use and onboard comfort
With extended energy capacity, the system supports continuous use of all onboard amenities—air conditioning, cooking equipment, lighting, and more—without compromise.
A quiet and efficient solution
The ability to operate in full electric mode enables navigation in sensitive or protected areas without emissions or noise. This is not the core function of the system, but a welcome advantage for those who cruise in remote or natural environments.
