FPY70 Hybrid Electric — JOOOL OneBox Energy Integration
The FPY70 hybrid electric is a 22.95-metre motor catamaran built for extended cruising, long-range passages and liveaboard comfort. With a beam of 11.09 metres, 3,700 litres of fuel capacity and propulsion options from 2 × 300 hp to 2 × 600 hp, the FPY70 is engineered for offshore autonomy — including transatlantic crossings on its own reserves.
Integrated with the JOOOL OneBox Energy system, the FPY70 hybrid electric gains a centralized energy architecture that manages all onboard power sources automatically — shore power, solar panels, generator and battery storage — within a single plug-and-play unit. The system continuously optimizes energy distribution, prioritizes renewable sources and minimizes generator runtime at anchor and in port.
FPY70 Hybrid Electric — Silent mode at anchor
With up to 152 kWh of onboard battery storage, the FPY70 hybrid electric operates in full silent mode at anchor. All hotel loads — air conditioning, watermaking, refrigeration, lighting, navigation electronics — run from the battery bank without starting the generator. The 7,000W solar installation integrated on the bimini and coachroof feeds directly into the OneBox Energy throughout the day, extending silent mode autonomy and reducing reliance on fossil fuels.
The generator activates only when battery reserves drop to a configurable threshold — typically 30% — runs at its optimal efficiency point, charges the battery bank back to 80% and stops automatically. On a well-sized system with consistent solar input, the FPY70 hybrid electric can operate the generator for less than one hour per day. Some days, not at all.
Automated energy management
The JOOOL EPMS — Energy and Power Management System — coordinates all energy flows onboard the FPY70 hybrid electric in real time. Shore power, solar panels, generator and battery storage are managed automatically, without manual intervention. Renewable sources are prioritized at all times. The generator activates only when strictly necessary and stops as soon as battery reserves are restored.
The EPMS monitors insulation resistance, battery state of charge, energy production and consumption continuously. All data is accessible via the onboard display and recorded for maintenance review.
Scalable battery storage
The OneBox Energy system installed on the FPY70 hybrid electric supports battery capacity from 21 kWh up to 152 kWh per system, with LiFePO4 battery packs connected in parallel. LiFePO4 chemistry provides intrinsic thermal stability, zero routine maintenance and a lifespan exceeding 10 years under normal use. Each battery pack includes an integrated BMS and an automatic FIREPRO fire suppression system that activates at 88°C.
Multiple OneBox Energy units can be connected in parallel to scale total storage capacity with the vessel’s energy demands — making the system equally suited to private cruising and commercial charter operations.
Integration and certification
The JOOOL OneBox Energy system on the FPY70 hybrid electric is factory-wired and pre-configured before shipyard delivery. Standardized connectors and a plug-and-play architecture mean no specialist electrical engineering is required on the vessel. The system is CE certified, HVIL equipped and fully documented for classification society review — Bureau Veritas, Lloyd’s Register and DNV.
JOOOL actively supports each yard through the CE certification process for every new model integration, providing full LiFePO4 chemistry documentation, safety architecture documentation and commissioning support.
