WHO WE ARE
Alternatives Energies & JOOOL
PARENT COMPANY
Alternatives Energies
In 1997, Philippe Pallu de la Barrière won the European Solar Boat Challenge, demonstrating the potential of renewable energy at sea. The following year, he founded Alternatives Energies in La Rochelle and commissioned the first 100% electro-solar ferry in the port.
Since then, the company has built a solid reputation for innovation and resilience in marine power systems, delivering advanced, low-emission propulsion for the maritime sector and supporting the ecological transition of professional fleets. Alternatives Energies develops and integrates a wide range of clean energy solutions: electric zero-emission shuttles, hybrid, solar-optimised, and hydrogen propulsion systems.
Based in La Rochelle, Alternatives Energies operates with a multidisciplinary team of engineers, technicians, and project managers. The company co-designs complete systems with its partners, from specification and integration to training and long-term maintenance. Every project is tailored to the technical and operational realities of shipowners, naval architects, and shipyards.
